Adults play a significant role in building confidence in teens, although many adults don't realize their level of influence on helping a teen grow their self confidence, much less how to wield their influence.
Many adults mistake using EMBARRASSMENT, CRITICISM and WITHHOLDING PRAISE as productive ways to help teens be successful. This is a mistake. Encouraging teens to produce in order to avoid being embarrassed or criticized or hopeful for praise only creates neediness and codependency...in fact, the opposite of creating a solid foundation of self-confidence.
BELIEVE in your teen and have FAITH in them. COMMUNICATE that to them. BE THERE for them and they watch their self confidence grow.
