This week I teamed up with Brenda Velissaris of Saris Counseling to talk about the 3 common and necessary parenting techniques that cause teens to lose their crap.
Thing is, as a parent you can't avoid these 3 parenting moves:
-you HAVE to ask your kid to do things,
-you HAVE to give consequences, &
-you HAVE to ask them questions.
3 tips to navigate your way through this phase and weather the storm:
-find a parent tribe,
-don't take it personally, &
-laugh about it...as much as you can.
SHARE and/or TAG a friend because we really think parents are going to relate hard to this; and parents need to know they are not alone & they are doing OKAY!!!

Episode 2 of 'Confessions of The Psyko Therapist'
takes place at Integrity Counseling in the office of Dr. Renae Swanson. She is a professor at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh as well as a licensed professional counselor.
In this episode Dr. Swanson talks about 3 strategies for setting and maintaining healthy boundaries during the holiday's. I had a great time visiting with Dr. Swanson; she has a strong approachable energy and a super cute and inviting office. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed interviewing her!!

So you had a teen go off to college this year. You have suffered through the empty nest feelings of missing them, the guilty moments of being glad they are gone, the countless phone calls home because they are homesick and all you want to do is tell them to just "come home!!" Or maybe they don't call home at all and you feel unappreciated and forgotten by your own kid.
Now the Holiday's are approaching and your college student is coming home for an extended holiday break. Maybe you're feeling a mixture of excitement and dread about them returning home.
That's why I called my good friend Stephanie Kregel-Forbes. She is a licensed professional counselor who works specifically with young adults and their families. She says the college transition time is a transition for the entire family.
I made an appointment with her at her office to film some productive ways for you to get through the holidays with your returning college student. In this video she gives you AND your college student 3 tips for living together during the holidays.
